ATS Keywords: The Fast, Recruiter-Approved Method
Stop keyword stuffing. Use this 15-minute workflow to identify and place the right terms naturally.
The problem with “missing keywords” lists
Most tools dump dozens of random words. Recruiters don’t hire keywords—they hire evidence. The goal is to reflect the job language where it’s truthful and relevant.
The 15-minute workflow
- Pull the top 10–15 hard skills (tools, languages, domains). Ignore fluff.
- Pull 6–10 responsibilities (ownership areas). Convert them into action verbs in your bullets.
- Choose 3 role themes (e.g., “platform reliability”, “B2B SaaS”, “stakeholder leadership”).
- Place keywords in 4 locations: headline, summary, skills, and the most relevant experience bullets.
Placement rules (so it doesn’t look fake)
- Only add a keyword if you can back it with an example.
- Avoid repeating the exact phrase more than 2–3 times.
- Prefer “keyword + outcome” (e.g., “Kubernetes — reduced deploy failures 30%”).
